Review: Kidlandia - AWESOME Personalized Map Products for Kids!

Imagine a magical world where you are the prince (or princess) and everything in your world is named after you or someone you know and love.  It's a friendly kingdom, of course, where all the Kreechurs love to smile and play together.

Sound crazy?  It's not so far-fetched when you discover Kidlandia, a collection of fully customized children's map products.

Kidlandia grew out of creator Brian Backus’ 2004 concept to create personalized maps of imaginary kingdoms for children’s rooms. He believed that by providing children their own kingdoms, with friendly monsters as companions, kids would gain an increased sense of confidence, control, and self-worth. In addition, by naming the cities, islands, and other features of the kingdoms after family and friends, kids would feel more connected to those who love them.

When I first visited Kidlandia's website, I thought the products were cute, but I didn't realize how exciting they were!  Once I had picked a product (a custom placemat, as shown in these photos) and started customizing, I realized that this was just about the coolest personalized project I have ever seen.

In my project, I was allowed to enter up to twenty-five different names for personalization.  The finished map is of L's very own land - where the national holiday is L's birthday.  All of the places and "Kreechurs" shown on the map have been given names that represent family members and friends, all people who L knows and loves!

For example - in this photo you can see "Julie Island" (named after myself), with a featured "Andy Harbor" (named after L's uncle), and a "Randywump" Kreechur (named after L's Grandpa)!

I was so intrigued by this concept!  Kids are sure to love learning to read maps and learning to read using these fun products.  While I chose a placemat, you can also order custom wall maps, growth charts, and more.

Kidlandia offers a big selection of customizing options - for L's placemat, we chose the "Kidlandia Kreechurs Adventureland" map, but you can also order products featuring Disney Princess, Cars, Dora the Explorer, Veggie Tales, and more!

The second placemat I customized is for my niece.  What little girl wouldn't love her very own Disney Princess kingdom?!

My favorite part of the Princess map - the customized castle.  I think I want one of these maps for myself!  :)

Overall I am thrilled with the Kidlandia products I tested out.  They are fun and functional, and make a very unique gift.  I plan to order more products for L when he is older, and we'll definitely be picking up some Kidlandia gifts for friends and family as well!  Head on over to the website and check out their selection - you can enter all your custom information and see what your perfect world would look like!

Thanks to Kidlandia for providing my review samples!  I received no other compensation and all views expressed are my own.
