Harry Potter Week: Day 5 - CLUE: World of Harry Potter Review

It was Miss Scarlet in the Billiard Room with the Candlestick. I love CLUE. In fact, it is one of my absolute favorite board games (that and Monopoly). I have played many versions over the years, but they were all just updates of the same old game - not that there's anything wrong with that. But now Hasbro Games has released CLUE: World of Harry Potter - combining two of my favorite things.

My hubby and I had the chance to try out this new Harry Potter CLUE and we were delighted. First, it isn't Mr. Boddy who's been killed. In fact, no one has been killed, but one of Hogwarts' favorite students has been kidnapped! You play as Harry, Hermione, Ron, Neville, Luna or Ginny as you set off on a quest to save your friend. Was it Lucius Malfoy in the Forbidden Forest with a Cursed Necklace? This edition of CLUE has some new features including the use of Floo Powder to travel and turntables under the board to throw some added excitement into the game. The added features make for an interesting new game experience!  But even with the new features, CLUE: World of Harry Potter maintains the classic feel of the original game.  This game is definitely a must-have for the Harry Potter enthusiast, and is sure to be enjoyed by Muggles as well.

You can get your own Clue - World Of Harry Potter on Amazon!

Thanks to Hasbro Games for providing my review sample! I received no compensation and all views expressed are my own.

Wonka Exceptionals Chocolate Bars Review + Giveaway

Fantabulous Fudge
"The candyman can cause he mixes it with love and makes the world taste good." Who doesn't remember the classic Willy Wonka movie or its more recent remake? I hope that you have seen them both, and not only that - but that you have read Roald Dahl's original story, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The great news is, Wonka chocolate is not just a thing of fiction, you really can enjoy all sorts of Wonka candies.

Triple Dazzle Caramel
My hubby and I recently reviewed four kinds of Wonka Exceptionals chocolate bars: Scrumdiddlyumptious (milk chocolate mixed with scrumptious toffee, crispy cookie and crunchy peanuts), Chocolate Waterfall (swirled milk and white chocolate), Triple Dazzle Caramel - NEW FLAVOR (milk chocolate filled with buttery caramel and a dazzle of sea salt) and the Fantabulous Fudge - NEW FLAVOR (milk chocolate filled with decadent chocolate fudge).

I'm not a huge fan of nuts, but Scrumdiddlyumptious was still quite scrumptious.  Chocolate Waterfall is a delightful blend.  Fantabulous Fudge is the perfect solution for all of the chocoholics out there.  But I have to admit, the Triple Dazzle Caramel won the "favorite" vote from both myself and my hubby. I was also impressed when I read the ingredients on the back and could pronounce every one. Wonka uses natural ingredients in their chocolate bars. Many stores carry Wonka Exceptionals bars including CVS, Walgreens, and Hy-Vee. So go out and get one!

Or you can also buy Wonka Exceptionals in bulk on Amazon!

Zaycon Foods 40lb. Chicken Breast Review + Giveaway

Now that I am a parent, I am becoming more concerned about the food that we consume in our home!  My family eats a lot of chicken, and I know there are lots of moms out there who are concerned about finding meat that is free of hormones, additives or any other artificial ingredients.

Enter Zaycon Foods!  Zaycon is a company that wants to help its customers "Buy Big and Save Big." They sell a variety of items including meats and fresh fruits.  All of their products are farm-fresh and sold by the case (great for families who want to split the cost and get a great deal on great natural food).

Zaycon is unique in that they don't have stores to purchase from, but rather they have Event Locations. Basically, once you have done the FREE (and easy) registration on the website, you will see the times, dates and locations in your area and what will be on sale. Then you just place your order online and pick it up at the designated time and place. Its that easy!

Zaycon Foods will be having events in Missouri and Kansas July 25-30.

Cities included are:
St Louis MO (St. Charles, Fenton, Chesterfield, Wentzville)
I-70 Corridor/ St Louis to Kansas City (Columbia, Jefferson City, Sedalia)
Kansas City MO (St Joseph, Liberty, Lee’s Summit, Grain Valley)
Kansas City KS (Topeka, Leavenworth, Olathe, Lawrence)
Hwy 44 Corridor/Joplin to St Louis (Joplin, Springfield, Conway, Lebanon, Rolla)

More information will be available on Zaycon's website on July 14 at 5:00 PM CST. At that time you will be able to begin placing orders. At the KC events, Zaycon Foods will be selling their "fresh, never frozen" chicken in 40 lb. cases.  The price for a case right now is $63.60 ($1.59/pound).  This price fluctuates somewhat throughout the year, based on the market.  When you register with Zaycon Foods, you will receive all of the info about your local events by email.

I received a case of Zaycon's chicken for review - and wow, 40 lb is a lot of chicken!  If you have a small family (like us - two adults and a baby who can't yet eat solids), I would definitely recommend finding a friend with whom to split the purchase.

This fresh, never frozen chicken was still very cold when it arrived and we had to give it a little time before we were able to separate it into smaller, more manageable freezer bags.  We left out a portion to make some Pear & Walnut Chicken (a favorite recipe). The meal that we made with just a few breasts of chicken lasted us for two meals, so by my count, our 40lbs of chicken should last us quite a long time!

At the grocery store, we typically pay about $8-9 for 3 lbs. of chicken, that's $3/lbs - and the chicken is not necessarily fresh. Zaycon's price is nearly half that right now - and it tastes delicious! Check out Zaycon Food's website and make sure you enter the giveaway below.

Note from Zaycon:
The savings event will be published on the Zaycon Foods website Thursday, July 14th at 5:00pm central time. (Registered customers should login to see complete details at that time.) For registered customers in an event region, we will send out a short email announcing the new event. Our savings events typically have a limited quantity of products (i.e., what we can transport on our refrigerated trucks). For this reason, we will take orders for a savings event until a certain date or until the event quantity is sold out. We ask our customers to carefully review all event details (product, price, event date, pickup time, etc.) before placing their order.

Giveaway

One My Kansas City Mommy reader will win a $65 Credit to Zaycon Foods (which is enough to get one 40 lbs of chicken)!  If you live in the Kansas City area, you will be able to redeem your prize at the upcoming sale (details above).  This giveaway will end on July 23  at 11:59 PM Central time.

To enter this giveaway:

First, go to ZayconFoods.com and register (this is FREE and very easy). Then come back here and leave a comment on this post telling me that your registered.  Then fill out the ENTRY FORM. Completing these two steps counts as one entry.

You can also receive additional entries for the following (you will check these off on the entry form - please do not leave additional comments relating to these! They will NOT be counted unless they are filled in on the form.):

* "Like" Zaycon Foods on Facebook
* Follow Zaycon Foods on Twitter
* Subscribe to My Kansas City Mommy's feed or email subscription

* "Like" My Kansas City Mommy on Facebook

Don't forget to click here to fill out the entry form. Please note that this prize can only be shipped to a US address!

A Little Bit of Fine Print: PLEASE READ
If the winner lives near a delivery location, they will receive a $65 credit to their Zaycon account to use for any Zaycon product available. If the winner outside the delivery locations, and would not be able to pick up their product, we’ll send them $30. If the person that wins has already purchased a case of chicken for the event, they will be refunded their money. This allows them to order right away.

Boumy Baby & Toddler Shoes Review + Discount Code

I freely admit it: I have an obsession with baby shoes.  L has SO many shoes, and he is not even crawling yet (much less walking)!  I was really excited when I was given the chance to review these adorable shoes from Boumy

They arrived in a cute little box - great for gift-giving.  Boumy shoes are made from 100% soft leather.  The design of Boumy's slippers features an elastic ankle closure - eliminating the need for laces or velcro.  These shoes are easy to get on small feet.  Even with a very wiggly baby, getting them on was quick - and the elastic keeps them on.  Good news for me, since L is pretty determined these days to grab everything.  The soles feature a somewhat roughened leather - which makes it easier for little feet to grip slippery floors.

I truly love these shoes.  I actually ordered a pair that is just slightly bigger than what L needs currently.  When he starts walking (which for the kid who rolled over at 3 months, may not be too far away), I have an idea he's going to be wearing these all the time. If you're not sure what size to purchase, there is a helpful sizing guide on Boumy's site.

So far L has mostly just expressed interest in trying to pull them off his feet and put them in his mouth.  He hasn't succeeded on either count yet.  I know he's going to love them when he's learning how to walk, too!  :)

The style L is wearing here is Sportstripe Navy, retail price $32.

You can find more info about Boumy shoes at Boumy's site or on Boumy's Facebook page.

Boumy is also offering a generous discount just for My Kansas City Mommy readers!  Get 20% off your purchase of Boumy shoes!  Limit one redemption per customer.

Use coupon code: MAB072011

Coupon Expires: 7-31-2011

This review was provided through MamaBuzz. The product was provided by Boumy Shoes for this review. I received no other compensation and all views expressed are my own.
